Verizon iPhone 4 vs Sprint’s HTC Evo or Evo Shift – Jury’s Out

Verizon iPhone 4 vs Sprint HTC Evo

I’ve been hunting around like crazy doing research on new cell phone plans and mobile phones. I’ve got an old BlackBerry Curve on the T-Mobile network, and I’m definitely looking to get a new smartphone. With all this Verizon iPhone 4 buzz, should I forget about the HTC Evo or HTC Evo or Evo Shift with Sprint? The jury’s still out!

I love the big and bright screen of the HTC Evo, but I don’t like it’s hunkering size. The Evo Shift is better as I really like a real keypad but still have the option of using the large touchscreen. Plus, the Evo Shift is slightly smaller than the Evo. I prefer the option of using Swype on the Android phones and all the “open” apps. But then again, “open” apps leave a higher risk of corruption.

The iPhone 4 is just beautifully parsimonious in the technical sense. I also love all the cool and cute iPhone 4 cases out there. But I’m afraid that if I get the brand new iPhone 4 during its debut with Verizon, I’ll get all the kinks that goes along with a rookie. Is this fear valid? How likely will an iPhone 5 come out soon after the iPhone 4 introduction on Verizon? I’d hate to get stuck with an outdated phone soon after getting up to speed with the new device!

As far as plans go, I’m not crazy about the data limit imposed by Verizon. Verizon caps the data plans at 2GB max while Sprint offers unlimited data plans. I’m such a Facebook and NPR junkie that I’ll need all the data I can get!

So I’m still undecided– the Verizon iPhone 4 or the Sprint HTC Evo or Evo Shift? Any suggestions?
